Messaging
How to communicate with buyers and workers.
Contacting a Worker Before Ordering
Not sure if a service is right for you? Message the worker first:
- Go to the service page
- Click the Message button next to the worker's profile
- Send your question
This creates a conversation thread. The worker gets notified and can reply. You can discuss project details, ask about custom requirements, or clarify anything before committing.
Order Chat
Once you place an order, there is a dedicated chat on the order page. Use this for:
- Sharing additional details or files
- Asking questions during the project
- Discussing revision requests
- General updates
All messages are tied to that specific order, so you have a clear history of the conversation.
Finding Your Conversations
Go to Messages in the top nav to see all your conversations. You will see:
- A list of all message threads
- Who you are talking to
- The last message preview
- Unread count badge if there are new messages
Click any conversation to open it.
Sending Files
You can attach files in messages:
- Images (JPG, PNG, etc.)
- PDFs
- ZIP files
- Other documents
There is a 10MB limit per file in messages. For larger files, consider using a file sharing service and sending the link.
Notifications
When you get a new message:
- The Messages link in the nav shows an unread count badge
- You get a notification toast if you are on the site
Make sure to check your messages regularly, especially during active orders.
Tips for Good Communication
- Be clear about what you need or what you are delivering
- Respond promptly to keep projects moving
- Keep it professional even if there are disagreements
- Use the order chat for order-related discussions so there is a record
